body found near Hermosillo on 8 July as that of kidnapped U.S.

Subject, born 24 August 1927 in Ponca, Oklahoma, was
of operational interest in 1960. She was employed in Cuba
by the Castro Government and it was hoped she could be
recruited in place. She was, and is, an American citizen.
She arrived in New York City in June 1960 and physical
surveillance and audio monitoring of her hotel room was

John Patterson, the U.S. Vice-Consul in Uermosillo,
Mexico was kidnapped on 22 March, allegedly by members of the
hitherto unknown Peoples' Liberation Army of Mexico. Patter-
son was last seen leaving the consulate that morning, presum-

1. Manolo RAY telephoned me Saturday night to tell me that he had heard
from his Miami contact that a number of Batistianos had been recruited for
training in the "camps" and some had already been flown to the camp. He said
