Approved for Release: 2023/03/31 C00295849 CIN HISTORICAL REVIEW PROGRAM RELEASE IN FULL 1999 SUBJECT: Viola June Cobb aka: June Cobb #216 264 Subject, born 24 August 1927 in Ponca, Oklahoma, was of operational interest in 1960. She was employed in Cuba by the Castro Government and it was hoped she could be recruited in place. She was, and is, an American citizen. She arrived in New York City in June 1960 and physical surveillance and audio monitoring of her hotel room was conducted at the request of the MARC Security Officer. This activity took place on 6 June 1960 and also involved the monitoring of a polygraph of Subject. Subject arrived back in New York City in September 1960 and again at the request of J4ARC Security Officer, her hotel room was under audio surveillance from 21 to 29 September and from 6 October to 9 November. Phone cover on Subject's outgoing calls was also provided as well as at least one surreptious entry into her room after she had moved in. In addition, Subject travelled to Boston for a poly- graph examination during 10 to 13 October and a physical surveillance as well as audio coverage of her hotel room was provided. Although Subject was not used as an Agent, she continued to be of operational interest for debriefing purposes until approximately 1968.
