The Solomon Islands are located in the South Pacific Ocean, and the group’s East Rennell Island (pictured) in the southernmost part is one of the world’s largest raised coral atolls. The island measures 86 km long (53 mi) and 15 km (9.3 mi) wide and is covered with dense forest.
