Sao Tome and Principe's most famous landmark is the Pico Cão Grande (Portuguese for "Great Dog Peak"), a needle-shaped volcanic plug peak in the Obo National Park. The volcanic plug was formed three and a half million years ago when magma solidified in the vent of an active volcano.
