The entrance to the Musee Oceanographie (Oceanographic Musem) in Monaco-Ville. Inaugurated in 1910 by its founder, Prince Albert I, the museum offers a remarkable collection of marine fauna (stuffed or in skeletal form). The basement houses a world-famous aquarium, with over 4,000 species of fish.
The Prince's Palace in Monaco is the official residence of the principality’s ruler. The palace was built in 1191 as a Genoese fortress and became a home of the ruling Grimaldi family in 1297. The Prince's Palace reflects the history of Monaco and the royal family that has ruled from it for over 700 years.
Sailors stationed aboard the amphibious command ship USS Mount Whitney man the rails as the ship arrives in Monaco for a port visit to participate in Monaco's National Day celebration in 2008.
