The Liberia Wildlife Sanctuary rescues animals, such as this pangolin, from being poached for bushmeat or sold or kept as pets. The ultimate goal of the Sanctuary is releasing the animals back into the wild or more protected areas.
Near the major fishing town of Robertsport, Liberia is the wreckage of the tanker Tamaya 1 which went ashore in 2016.
Liberia is one of the countries where Giant African land snails (Achatina) are found. They are known to grow up to 30 cm (1 ft) in length and can be found in the dense tropical rain forests.
