The junior member of the Senate Select Committee on Government Operations (the “Church Committee”) during 1975–76 reflects on his appointment to the committee, its proceedings, and its results. His hope is that if the interview provides one take away for intelligence officers, in CIA especially, it is this:
“If I had one message to the agency, it would be
that people like me—and I think the majority of
those on the committee—wanted to protect the
CIA, not destroy it.”
