This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Plc (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

The Chulyrn Ordnance Depot Pavlovskiy is
located 138 kilometers (km) west of Novosibirsk,
11 km west of Chulym, and five km east-south-
east of Pavlovskiy (Figure 1). The installation
is served by a 10 km spur of the Omsk-Novo-
sibirsk rail line and by unimproved secondary
roads. It consists of a storage area and an as-
sociated support area covering a total of. ap-
proximately 860 acres. The installation (Fig-
ures 2 and 3) contains 261 buildings, including
200 revetted storage buildings, two support
buildings, and one transshipment shed within a
double-fenced area. The support area, approxi-
mately one km north-northeast of the secured
storage area, contains 46 administrative/sup-
port buildings. A second group of five buildings
is located on the north corner of the secured
storage area adjacent to the rail spur. Seven
probable guard posts are located around the
perimeter of the secured storage area.
The latest available photography, Mission
confirms the presence
of winter activity within the support area. There
have been no apparent changes at this installa-
tion since it was first observed on Mission

Road Service
Unimproved secondary roads serve the
installation.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains 46 administrative/support
buildings with a function which cannot be de-
termined from available photography.
Ammunition Storage Area
Area F contains one hundred 70- by 40-foot
revetted storage buildings and one hundred 025X1
revetted storage buildings. The build- 25X1
ings are divided by type into western and eastern
sections. This area is double secured.
Seven probable guard posts, six secured and
one unsecured, are located around the perimeter
of the storage area. Two probable guard posts
are located within the firebreak on the north-
east side of the storage area.
Other Buildings
Five support buildings are located near the
north corner of the secured storage area, ad-
jacent to the rail spur. They may function as
maintenance and/or general storage buildings.
