ABSTRACT; The article deals with problems of material and technical maintenance of
of - the Soviet Air; Fo=r.,. One,basic economy.in air-units and services is the improve-
ment of.equipment construction. Considerable economy in money and material resources
was achieved in construction and maintenance(of airfields in 1965. In recent years
the majority of the Aii,.Force airfields has been equipped with centralized systems
of refueling, air charging, and electric-power supply for starting engines and
checking aircraft~equipment. Centralized.systems make possible not only a reduction
in pretakeofftime of aircraft, but; al,~oL4 decrease in the number of mobile units
from25 to,30% for flight-.maintenancek ch equipment,.armaynent, and material
facilities has been put under cover from b~,d weather.in order to lower maintenance
'costs. Improved planningin transportation of armament, equipment, and material by
-,railroad and air-are suggested as means and ways to save money. In the new training

TEXT- A classifier has been developed which contains some 73 types -
500 items being used in ship building. In the olassifier the parts are united
in 34 classes:,.worms, levers, spindles, etc. The author presents a standard
technological process of lathe work of bevel pinions. In connection with the
introduction of gang machining methods the Plant has-reorganized its equipment
to switch over to flow production, while specialized sections have been organized
(piston rings, gears, eta.), which increased the production output by a factor of
1.5. The author describes individual gang fixtures which are used for the pro-
duction of standard parts. There are 3 tables.

TITLE: Iron-ore from Turgay (Zheleso Turgaya)
PERIODICAL: Nauka i Zhizn', 1957, # 10, pp 17-19 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: In March 1949 Soviet geologists discovered vast deposits
of high grade iron-ores, the Sokolovka and Sarbay deposits,
in the district of the Turgay depression in Kazakhstan.
In 1955 the author of this article interviewed Valentin
Karpovich Pyatunin, the chief geologist, on this eubject.
The resources of magnetic iron ore of these two deposits
amount to a billion tons. Moreover, in the Turgay depres-
sion huge resources of limonite and rich deposits of bauxite
have been discovered. In 1949 the pilot Mikhail Grigorlevich
Su-fgatanovof a geological expedition lost orientation when
he crossed these magnetic iron-ore fields situated about
75 km north of Nikolayevka and 40 km to the south of
Kustanay and thus caused their discovery. The geological
expedition sent to this area was headed by Vyacheslav
Petrovich Nosikov. Hard work was required to find out that
only near Lake Surbay and the village of Sokolovka there

The purpose of the present work is to clarify the Nature of penetrating particles
formed in electron-nuclear showers, v~ilch work was carried out in 19-149 and continued
into 1950, when the apparatus was improved. Th,: preliminary results obtained t1hen
showed that among the penetrating particles of the showeru existed protons and mesons
and that the protons constitute a considerable portion of the penetrating component
of electron-nuclear showers. Acknowled.~-e that advice of V. I. Veksler, Corr-11.1em

-ABSTRACT: A portion of the phase diagram of the Pd-W-Re system
waaconstructed and the properties of the alloys were investigated.
The phase diagram of the Pd corner of the ternary system was
-constructed from physical-chemical data (fig. 1). Examination of
the properties of the alloys (fig. 2) shows that increasing the
rhenium content in the.alloys lowers the fusion temperature of the
Uernary melt from the direction of Pd-W to the direction of Pd-Ro.
An increase in the rhe'nium content in the alloys greatl increases
their hardness and simultp.neously impairs their deforma~ility at

TITLE.- Set-up for the Grinding of a Contour by Copying a
Master (Ustanovka dlya shlifovaniya kontura po kopiru)
PERIODICAL:Vestnik mashinostroyeniya, 1959, Nr 5, PP 70-71 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: An installation for the grinding of a profiled slot by
copying a master is illustrated and described. On the
hydraulic copying attachment of a lathe is mounted,
instead of a tool holder, a special grinding head,
consisting of a bracket, which carries a pneumatically
driven grinding spindle (n = 129000 rpm) as well as a
pneumatic drill (n = 3500 rpm). The spindle of the
grinding mechanism carries a grinding wheel at the end.
The whole grinding mechanism can be reciprocated in
vertical slideways through a worm reduction gear, which
is driven by the pneumatic drill motor via a worm
reduction and a crank. The grinding mechanism can also
be adjusted in the vertical direction by means of a
screwo The workpiece is mounted on a frame attached to

AUTHOR: Polyusuk, Yu.A.
TITLE: On-the Anazorphose of FunctionsN
PERIODICALs Vestnik Moskovskogo universiteta. Seriya I, matematika,
mekhanika,' 1960,,No.1, PP-33-36
TEM The author considers the representation of the left side of an
equation with three variables in the form of a determinant of Massou,
It is shown that the well-known solutions of this problem can be simplified
by going over to normed determinants of Massou with the aid of projecti-fe
transformation of the nomogram. The author does not formulate the
conditions necessary and sufficient for the desired representability; he
gives a method which permits to give explicitly one of the possible
representations. The author mentions P.V.Nikolayev, Kh.A.Bitner and
I.A.Villner. There are 7 references: 4 Soviet, 2 American and 1 French.
