TITLEs The Simplest Sound Generator (Prosteyshiy zvukovoy generator)
PERIODICALt Fizika v Shkole2 19579 6s pP 59 - 60 (USSR)
ABSTRACTt For demonstrating the acoustic retroactive effect of~a
loudspeaker on a microphone located in the same room, the
author recommends the following ordinary sound generator. It
consists of ba electrodynamic loudspeaker# a-carbon microphone,
a telegraph key and aka.c. source of 4 - 6 vo When assembling
the set, the mioro&one should be placed close to the loud-~
speaker's diffusero and conneoted in series with the key, tand
battery (see figure). When the circuit to closed,& loud and
clear sound of a high tons arises. The tone's height changes
when the current direction in the loudspeaker is altered.
The t88tfwere made with a 10 watt loiudspeakert resistance
about 3#5 ohmo microphone 11MD1 as issued' to sahoolop arid' an alka-
line storage battery. The author describes how the sound
arises, and how the~pitch of the tone aiteri.

TITLE: A Bottom Screen for the Water Intake of ~Mountain Rivers .(Donnaya
reshetka na vodozaborakh gornykh rek)
PERIODICAL: Tr. Gruz. n. -i. in-ta gidrotekhn. i melior. , 1957, Nr 18-19,
pp 323-33Z
ABSTRACT: The author describes the result of experimental investigations
on the screen of a water,-intake dam. The experiments were per-
formed on screens built to a full scale of.0.6, 0.8, and 1.0.m in
length without a sluiceway under the screen. The model discharges
were 50-55 liter/sec and less; clear water without sediment was
used. A lengthwise decrease in the flow'velocity of water through
the screen was noted in the experiments.~ TheJongitudinal pro-
files of the water over the screen with various discharges have
the appearance of bent curves almost parallel to one another. With
an increase in the slope of the screen (the experiments were per
formed with i = 0.0 - 0.2) and of the discharge allowed to pass
Card 1/2 over it, the curves approached straight--line profiles~ Deviations
A Bottom Screen for the Water Intake of Mountain RIvers
of the average depth of the water above the Screen, equal to the half-swit of the
extremes, from the average depth determined by meas, urements.at 11 points,
amounted to 8 - 10'/o; as the discharge and the slope increa~le, the per c.entage of
deviation decreases because of the approximation of the water level to u~strnight
line. It was noted that the discharge coefficient of the :Screen increases ~consid-
erably, although rather unevenly, with enlargement of the screen openings, while
with a variation in the cross section of the rods this coefficient changes little and
in an indefinite manner. The methodology and conditions of the experimenta.1 pro-
cedures are not described sufficiently fully (for example, the author does not
indicate the width and height of the rods, the position of. the screen in the channel,
the methods of measuring the flow velocities through the screen, etc. ).,, "The
author suggests that the screen and water intake be cleaned of depositions of
sediments by mechanical means. i. e. , with the aid of a stream of waterlwith a
pressure from 3-6 atm; possible schemes of water sup-ply onto the screen a nd
water intake are presented.

Abstract : The author presents a mathematicallform ulation of lifting
power, speed and duration of bit drilling operation In a
supplement to his earlier articles (Neft. Khoz., 1948,
1950 and 1952). The present article is a reply to S. V.
Zvor,.vkiWs critical comments published in Neft.

effects of lifting and biting speeds and the number of
strokes in the duration of the drilling, operation. 4

There is one figure.

Title The effect of the regularity in change of the drilling
operation and number of strokes on selection of bit-
lifting speeds
Periodical : Neft. Khoz., V. 32, #8, 19-25, Ag 1954
-#=-,'J"=. The subJect of this discussion concerns the
effects of lifting and biting speeds and the number of
strokes in the duration of the drilling, operation. 4
charts, a numerical example and 5 Russian references
