ABSTRACT: The combine, Institutes Giprotsvetmet and Mekhanobr, nyev
Vodokanalproyekt have worked out a scheme of purification
of all the waste from the ZyryanDvak Lead Combine, as the
original method was expensive and cumbersome. Each stage
of contamination was considered with the idea of puzifying
in the most efficient way, i.e. pu.-ification of tle smallest
quantity of wat-er. The concen"J- rat-lon of harmful. im-purities

enables many tons of copper and gold to be extracted per year.

TITLE: System for stabilizing the arc length in T@C weldim with a non-

SOURCE: Svarochnoye proizvodstva, no. 3, 1965, 36-37
TOPIC TAIS: arc welding, argon arc welding, arc length stability, direct current
welding, nonfusible electrode, autvrmtic welding
ABSTRACT: The authors note that in automatic argon-arc welding wtth a non-fusible
Plectrode, weld quality depends on the accuracy with which the assigned or pre-
scribed welding conditions (welding current, nrc length, welding Speed, etc.) are
ma inta ined. Iii order to increatne f@Latjllity in the quality of welded Joints nade
in this fashion and to improve the con.litions of the work, the authors dcvq!loped,
and describe in this article, a system for the stabilization of arc length in di-
rect-current argon-arc welding with a oon-fusible electrode. The system has no
electromagnetic relays and the length of the arc is controlled by its voltage. The
structural diagram of the system, given in the article, reveals that it is com-

posed of 1) an input unit (containing oscillator fuses and a voltage level data
unit), 2) an amplifier, 3) a motor, 4) an actuating mechanism, 5) the arc Itself.
The method of installation of the motor (an RD-09) on a typical welding rig
(tLe ADS-1000-2) is explained in the article, and the sequence of opetat-1 -.4the
system is described briefly. This contact-free system for automatically adjuatt"
the length of the welding arc Is said to be stable In operation, easily calibrated
by personnel not possessing high job qualifications, and capable of installation
on any argon-arc welding rig using a non-melting electrode operating on direct-
current. It Is also claimed that, at the present time, Elie system haG been in-
stalled and is performing normally on equipment used In the automatic'welding of
structural units consisting of alloy steels and other metals. Orig. art. has: 3

!ABSTRACT: A transistorized device weighing 250 g has been developed
ito monitor cardiac pulse wave propagation data from a person engaged
,in work or sport to an investigator located within 100 motors outdoors
,or 50 motors indoors, Cardiac biocurronts and photoelectric
lplethysmograms of the finger are recorded at the same time to
idetormino pulse wave propagation time from tho heart to the finger

,tips, The device consists-of an RST-1 type rad1oaPhMWohrQno&r&Rh
with sensors, amplifiers, a multi-M-ra-tor,, radio transmitter,, power
pack.and suotion-type electrodes to record cardiac waves and a
photosensor comprised of a FSK-2N-type semiconductor photoresistor
and a miniature light to record vascular changes in the fingor tips
The investigator uses a receiver-recorder device consisting of a
'receiver# decoder# and an Ink recording MMCh electrocardiograph.
In calculating the time thac a pulse wave propagates from the aorta
,to the finger tips, a correction of minus .12 seconds was introduced
to deduct the time (.10 see) from the start of the QRS waves of the
EKG to the semilunar valvesp and for the time lag (.02 see) of the
plethysmogram. compared to the main artery aphygmogram. FUlae wave
propagation time was investigated In subjects engaged in work, sportsp
or rest. No uniform time changes were found for subjects at rest,
but physical activities produced distinct shifts characterized by a
decrease in pulse wave propagation time. The shifts for physical
activity corresponded to pulse frequency changes# but restoration
time for both Indices varied considerably* dependIng on the type of
ph7sioal strain. Orig. art, has: 2 figxwes and 1 tables

TOPIC TAOSt pulsed magnatic field, metal forming, die, electric energy conversion
ABSTPACTt Metal foriaing by mies of a pulsed segnetic Hold (W) is baseS on the
conversion of the electric energy accumulated in the store&* element during discharge
via an Inductor, to the energy of a pulsed magnetic field which creates the pressure
shaping the metal blank. In this connection, the authors present formulas for determ-
inLog the electric and magnetic parameters of the process, It is shown that the effi-
ciency of Pff used is the forming of shoat metal ranges from 10 to 40%. There exist
several techniques of "W metal forming, as illustrated in Fig. Is a) reduction of
