of the immunoglobulins (gamma, beta2.A,jand beta2M-globulins)
sy-n,thesis sys ;em (ISS) can be due to a) its inhibition (do--

occurrence of atypical immunoglobulins (autoantibodies).
The functional. state of the ISS can be evaluated only by
simultaneous antigenic and immunological property determin-

titer was elevated in the majority of cases where all diagnostic tests
were negative. In the authors' opinion all bloody. mucous diarrhea of

Abstract- CAuthor's Ruirgarian summary] "ImmunopathV1 is'defined a:s the Fene_-
ral term for some pathological state of the immune-globulin (gamma-, jBW.-
and *82-globulins) synthesizing system (ISS). The main types are: 1. a sharp
decrease of ilimune-globulin synthesis (conditions of antibody deficiency);
2. the synthesis of pathoSenic proteins,-Ath immune~globulin antigenicity
(myeloria, proteins, macroglobulins); and 3. the production of immune-globu-
lins with pathological specificity (auto-antibodies). For the recognition
and further characterization of -aroups 1 and 2, the author recommends that
the electrophoretic and immune-electrophoretic tests be supplemented by
anti-body determinations using quantitative inmune-diffusion and micro

methods. The functioning of the ISS can be evaluated only by the si;mul-
taneous determination of antigenicity and antibody effect of the immune-

Abstract: An interpretation is given for the K emission spectra of carbon
in graphite, lampblack, diamond, carborundum, and carbonates,
and the absorption K-spectra of carbon in cellulose as obtained
from literature data. The bright white spectrum absorption line
is interpreted by the author in accordance with the work by E. Ye.

Abstract., Using the well known optical terms 4DO of nitrogen in the
ls22s22p23p state (0-205 Ry), and also the prooton energy, cOr-
responding to the white absorption line (20.963 RY);, the authnr
calculates the energy of the true absorptiom edge (21.168 Fly).
This quantity determines the value of the K-level term. In the
interpretation of the fine structure of the emission spectray
attention was paid to the good agreement between the wavelengths
of the fundamental maxima of the KcKbands of carbon in various
modifications and its ccjVounds. These bands differ cmly In the
relative intensities of the maxima. Using the optical terms of
carbon and the value of the K-level term as determined from the
absorption spectrum, the author interprets 3 fundamental maxima
of the absorption band as ls2s22p2--*ls22822p transitionsy which
differ in the'd*figurations of the 2p-electrons: 3p (maximum
44.805 A)) lb (44-596 A), and 1S (44-373 A).,'Of these.. the IS
configuration is encountered more frequently than the others
af ter ionization of the K-level of carbon in diamoni6- carboxmilum,
amd carbonates, while the 3P configuration is encouniered in
-graphite.

Abstract :Report of a discovery of new uncharted line in the emission X-ray K spec-

Moseley law. This fact is evidence that neither the order in which the
atoms are arranged in the crystal lattice nor the chemical bonds affect
the positions of the uncharted lines, whiqh are "atomic" in character.

Abstract TD study the mosaic structure of crystals, the authors have
employed a method.. developed by thenj, of a three-crystal X-
ray spectrometer. The use of two calcite crystals as a mono-
chrmator has made it possible to obtain amonochromatic beam
of X-rays with a wavelength variation 6 X= o.oM x. in imi
crystal with a developed nacromosaic structure It was possible
to obtain resolution of the diffraction effects from the indi-

fects from inlividual blocks is in satisfactory agreement with
the value covLouted from the dynamic theory of the ideal crystal.

TITLE: Composition of amino acids in some kinds of fodder yeast
SOURCE: Diologia, no- 3, 1966, 210-212
TOPIC TAGS: yeast, amino acid, chemical composition, plant chemistry
ABSTRACT: A comparison of the amino acids contained in brewery yeast and in torula
yeast prepared by fermentations on various media is presented. Brewery yeast has
a higher overall content of amino acids; the highest isoleucine content was found
in torula grown on molasses with an addition of residues from alcohol distillation
columns. Torula grown on synthetic alcohol contained the highest amounts of lysine;
torula grown on sulfite cellulose residues contained the highest amounts of glutamic
acid, methionine, and phenylalanine. Orig.-art. has: 1 table. [JPRS: 35#8141

Abstract A gonadotropic substance was isolated from the urine of
pregnant women which stimulated spermatogenesis in earth-
vorms and failed to give a positive reaction in frogs.
This distinguishes it from the chorionic gonadotropin,
vhich is isolated from the urine along with it.- In a
normal pregnancy 60-1000 units of the gonadotropic subs-
tance are found in a liter of urine or serum, from the
second trimester on. When toxemia is Dresent, the con-
centration of the gonadotropin, even in the early

The Gonadotropic substance usually accompanies the chro-
rionic gonadotropin which, in a pathological pregnancy,
is formed in large quantities at the expense of a

"Metastasis of Bronchial Cancer and Its Significance"
Budapest, Dlaxyar Onkologia, Vol 10, No 4, Dee 1966; pp 213-214.
Abstract: On the basis of the examination of the site and fre-
quency of 475 metastases of 442 patients with bronchial cancer
thefollowing conclusions were drawn: 1. Bronchial cancer can
metastasize to practically any organ of the body. The most
frequently encountered metastases are the medlastinal altera-
tions of lymphogenic origin. 2. Two-thirds of the patients
treated at the Clinic for Bronchial Cancer exhibited metastases.
There Is a correlation between the size of the tumor and met-
astasis formation: larger tumors cause distant or near
metastases more rapidly. 3. Distant metastases are generally
inoperable. 4. The increase of the cancerous process is more
or less uniform; the qualitative change Is represented by the
appearance of the metastasis. 5. Treatment and care of inoper-
able patients must be carried out in an institutionally organized
manner. No references.

Risks in Surgical Anaesthesia)."
Budapest, Orvosi Hetilap, Vol 107, No 33, 14 Aug 66, paEos 1553-1555.
Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summary] The serup, cholinesterase activity
was detenninp(i with "Acholtest" piaper before and after 58 surgical opera-
tions mainly involving the thorax. A total of 116 tests were carried out.
A decreased level of activity was present in 11 patients before surgery.
On the basis of the postoperative tests, a correlation was found betwen the
e
underlying disease, the type and duration of the operation, and the changes
in the serum cholinesterase level. It is concluded that, along with the -
other usual tests, knowledge of the serurn cholinesterase level leads to a
more exact estimation of the surgical risks involved in a given case, The
Acholtest" piper method is considered to be suitocl for routine practice.

Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summary] A brief literature summary is fol-
lowed by a report of the experiences in the coursf~ of 3) resuscitations,
12 of which were successful, According to the experiences w1th patients
having pulmonary disease, resuscitation may be successful even after 3-4
miniftes becau5c of the chronic hypoxia of thc-se patients. Among the patients
who underwent surgery involving the right, -,.~do of the thorax, none could be
kept alive by direct cardiac massage involving opening of the left thorax.
In this group, closed chest cardiac resuscitation is considered to be
the b~?tter choice. In the ro-starting of ci.roulation stopped because of
thoracic trauma, the importance of an individual decision is stressed al-
though immediate thoracotomy in the case of injury 6n Uie left side, and
right-sided thoracotomy in the case of injury to the right side appear to

steel.specimens were tested in stirred solutions of NaCl and H2S04 . A preli-aii-

pretreated in 30% HN03 solution containing 5% K2Cr207 have demonstrated consider-
able corrosion resistance in 3% H2S04- The corrosion resistance of steels not

chrome steels become utilizable in cooling installations containing refrigerating
