ti6nS 16o-leo0c and 160-20000 gave the bent yields (35-8 EtAd 39-%~ 'I
respectively) with softening points at 112.5 and 1110G, and briE;ht coloring
(35 and 35-4 of the iodimetric scale). Optimum polymorization occurroc,
between 40 and 600C. The process takes place in lour stages: (1) Removal
of phenols by alkali; (2) dehydration by 112SO 4; (3) polymerization, I
neutralization, and.washing; (4) distillin-off of the solvent with vapor.
