vertical components of the direction of the wind-velocity vector. The set consists
of transducers whose sensing element is a special "bivane," a recorder, a digital
printing device, and a power supply; it is installed on the high meteorological towe

measuring wind directions is about 5-7' (see Fig. 1). Some'variations in profiles
of the wind direction In the lower 300 m of the atmosphere are shown. These profileE
were constructed for 30-min intervals, which permitted stable f6rms of curves that
represent "sets" of possible forms of wind-direction profiles in the layer (see
Table 1). One group of profiles shows a shift to the right with height in the wind
direction throughout the entire layer (IJI), and to the left (XVI-XVIII); in a
num1ber of cases, the wind direction wag constant throughout most of the entire layer
(IV); there were layered conbinations or right and left shift*,in the wind along
with constant directions (X, X11). The recording bivaApI2~9~designed and tested

Stefiuicv, and G.- S.-Nasill-ye participated in developing the wind-direction measur-

Abstract : From the oral and nasal mucus of 55 people diseased with
scleroma, 164 strains of scleroma bacteria were isolated,
10 strains of aerogenes, 9 strains of mucoid unfermented
bacteria, 4 strains of pneumococci, 5 strains of mucoid
sarcina, 2 mucoid strains of ~Xam-positive bacilli, and
other varieties of non-capsular bacteria. In the author's
opinion the most typical form of the scleroma microbe is
the one encountered in the orCAnism of the diseased

Abstract: A study was conducted on antigenic properties of
non-capsulated strains of scleroma, bacteria and
the specificity of the agglutination rea&tion (RA)
as diagnostic method. By repeated inoculations from
capsulated cultures maintained on a column of semi-
solid MPA at 1B-200, 66 noncapsulated strains were
obtained. Also a study was made of 9 non-capsulated
strains of other bacteria in the capsulated group

ABSTRACT: The purpose of the present work Is We Investigation of the qpectrum and the
kinetics of recombination emission (RE) of unalloyed CdS single crystalslubjected to cxcltatlon~
by a pulsed beam of high-energy (200--400kev) fast electrons. It is found that the green band
is present on irradiated and nonirradiated specimens, moreover, after irradiation the peak of
i the green band shifts toward the short wavelengths and the half-width of the band decreases.
No substantial variations were observed in the intensity, the half-width, or the peak position
of the red band of the RE spectrum after irradiation. These results preclude considering some 1i

type of radiation defects for the red band; the reverse, however, is more probable, i.e.,
it may be assumed that the recombination ccrters related to the red band of the RE sly;cLrum
are introduced Into the crystal prior to Irradiation in the process of crystal growth. This
assumption is strengthened by verification by x-ray excitation, when the red band in the RE
spectrum was present in Irradiated, nonirradlated, alloyed, and nonalloyed crystals. The
data obtained Indicate that the combined investigation of the kinetics and RE spectra of semi- 1

conductors during excitation by an electron beam may provide useful information on emission i
centers, in particular radiation defects, their nature, rate of formation, annealing, etc. In
