I made my first public remarks on Thursday; you can read them here. I spoke about the greatness of our work at CIA
now and over the past decades. I also took some time to focus America on the things we do and that we don't do in
order to keep them safe. And I told the world that we were no longer going to allow bad actors to steal our stuff and use
it against us without a vigorous response.
I'm writing here to let you know the feedback I've received personally has been tremendous. My email is full of notes
from across the political and national security landscape thanking me�but mostly you�for the clarity of purpose and
focus on mission that the remarks reinforced. We've also received lots of kudos publicly; a great example is all of you
being named "Distinguished Persons" of the week in a Washington Post column!
Thanks for what you do. Stay focused on the mission every moment. Our President and our country depend on it.
