PAPANEK[1] has passed on to SERGEJ[n] an
English 'ranslation of a note in Hungarian which Tibor
ECKHALDTLiiii lost in a taxi among a number of other
documents. [13% 7.cle driver] of the taxi handed. the gind
over to the Kh:..TALiv..1 and the latter :through IZBALv-I
entrusted the translation to a ?Hup.garian (we will try to
find out his name) from VAMBERY'sl.vii group who then
passed the translation on to, PAPANEK. The note, dated
the 27th of October and written in ECKHARDT's own
handwriting, says:
"1. Advice to the Hungarian Government:
(a\ Hold the line, of the Danube. '

(c .In no circumspances withdraw in -L,E) direction

version available as a crib this name is given

The crib shows the r(lissing portion of the
note as follows:

as English agents.. .Three men in SALZBURG
negotiated with them and on the same day they

The Russian For "emissaries" in the signalled
text is PCSLANNIKI. The crib translates this
phrase as "Committee of Ministers".
The text omits this final bracket which it
norms necenrar7 to innert at this point.
