One of the 1L r ;ost chemical Factories in Yugoslavia is reported to be
located at Kastel near Split. It covors an ar^a of 400 by 200 meters.

This I'hctory is divided into three de,rartYentsi
a. The first is tho electrolytic department, which produces h drogen
chloride, caustic soda and carbide.
b. The other two dopurtmonts produce artificial boot and shoe soles,
and plastic material for insulating cables. The present production
of the plastic section is between 600 and 700 tons a year.
3. The factory uses 2,000 kilowatt electricity, which comes from water
power supplied by the Cetina river.,
The -'actory is equipped t~i.th the host up-to-date machinery, obtained
partly from ^ormany and :artly from Czechoslovakia. "'.ost of the
machinery is automatic, with th;; re:iult that the 'actory e, ploys
only 300 workers.
