Approved For Release 2007/03/07 : CIA-RDP77M00144R000300100057-9 CONFIDENTIAL JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Mhursday - 20 February 1975 1. Doris Gibbons, PFIAB staff, called and wanted to know if we could help her update the list of members on the Agency's four oversight committees. I provided Mrs. Gibbons with the information. 2. Jim Kronfeld, Counsel, House Government Operations Subcommittee on Government Information and Individual Rights, , called to alert us that Chairman Bella S. Abzug (D., N. Y. ) will request the Director to appear next Thursday, 27 February, before the Subcommittee. The subject will be the Agency's exemption in the Privacy Act of 1974. Chairman Abzug has introduced legislation (H. R. 2635) to strike the exemption. The hearing will be investigatory and open, and the Director will be placed under oath. I discussed with Kronfeld the basic position of the Agency to seek an exemption for intelligence sources and methods if the exemption for all CIA files is struck. Kronfeld thought this approach would be best. He offered to work out with me any suitable 25X1 language to amend the Act along these lines. 4. I Talked with Chairman Lucien Nedzi, Intelligence Subcommittee, House Armed Services Committee, about the House Select Committee on Intelligence Activities. See Memo for Record. 5. Gary Burhop, in the office of Senator Bill Brock, called and asked for professional brochures and application forms for a constituent. Karla Hunt will send these out. 6. Jeff Yurdin, office of Representative Robert Kasten, called and asked for a copy of the "statutes" book. A copy of "Guide to CIA Statutes and Law" will be delivered to Mr. Yurdin.
