Committee, on a new Presidential finding on a covert action program. See

17. (Unclassified - GLC) Attended an LIG meeting in the Situation
Room of the White House. See Memo for Record.
18. (Unclassified - JMD) Richard Moose, Senate Foreign Relations
Committee staff, called and asked if Mr. Layton, NIO/SEA, could brief
Senator Dick Clark at 2:30 this afternoon on Vietnam. After checking with
Mr. Cary and Mr. Layton, I called back and said Mr. Layton and Mr. Miller
would be there at 2:30.
19. (Unclassified - GLC) Guy McConnell, Senate Appropriations
Committee staff, called and asked that I drop by to see him tomorrow and give
him an update on our evacuation of our people. I mentioned to McConnell that
we were going to be in touch with Chairman McClellan, qt-nafnrs Thur,rinnrl and
n some legislation introduced by Senator Kennedy which would liberalize
the FOIA. McConnell agreed it would be best to handle this with members while
the legislation is in Committee rather than wait until. it gets to the floor.
