Davydov, the Soviet journalist who defected in Tokyo last weekend, was
being handled by the Department of State as an. emigre
as a defector. I told him requests to interview Davydov should be sent to
the State Department or the Tolstoy Foundation in New York, which was
handling his resettlement. This information had been given me by

Elmer Henderson, Sta Director, Subcommittee on Legislation and National
Security, House Government Operations Committee, to review the upcoming
briefing of the Subcommittee and we learned. there would be a transcript
and a reporter named John Gianelli (phonetic) would be taking the transcript,
Gianelli had been used previously by the Subcommittee for classified executive
sessions.
Concerning my suggestion thati NICE/SE A, kick off 25X1.
the session and then depart following his briefing, Henderson said that
Chairman Jack Brooks (D., Tex.) would prefer to have provide 25X1A
his briefing at the end of the session. OS, was provided the 25X1A
information on Gianelli so that we could set up our standard procedures for
controlling the transcript.

major section of President Thieu's resignation speech in. translated form,
