Turner told a House intelligence sub-
committee that the regulation he
issued last November prohibiting the
CIA from using as paid or..-:unpaid 1
spies journalists accredited' to. U.S. I
newspapers, wire. services, or-broad-
cast media went far enough to, pre-
vent covert :. manipulation;y of the
American press.. Turner ? conceded
that occasionally astory planted by
the agency in.the foreign press might
?e reprinted in the United States, But
he said such a danger was "remote." .
