Approved For Release 2008/01/14: CIA-RDP86T00303R000400590038-5 SUBJECT: Grenada Documents - Talking Points for the DCI's Meeting with Chairman, NSC 1. Since the receipt at DIA of the first documents, an interagency team has been exploiting them, extracting what is of immediate interest as leads for follow-up interviews with former members of the army, of the New Jewel Movement, for public diplomacy, for a security assessment on Grenada, and for miscellaneous intelligence purposes. Another batch of 3,000 pounds of documents has just arrived in Washington, and these too are being examined and inventoried. There are more documents to be located, processed, and examined. For this reason, it would be foolish to set arbitrary deadlines for the completion of the work outlined below. 2. DDI has undertaken to do a comprehensive study with the working title, GRENADA: The Captured Documents, which is to cover the Cuban/Soviet role in Grenada as well as the rise an fall of the New Jewel Movement. (Persons undertaking this study will be alert for evidence of the involvement of North Koreans, Libyans, etc., as well.) 4. An Interagency Intelligence Assessment was done on 10 November at the request of Assistant Secretary Motley: GRENADA: The Security Threat. Whether it is practical to do another analysis depends less on the analysis of documents than on the development of information from elsewhere, as well as on developments in Grenada itself over the next weeks or months. 5. It seems mong the persons interviewed are some who will be willing 'to give in-depth interviews to our analysts later on to fill out information we get from the documents. This would considerably increase the value of the studies we intend to. prepare. 6. We are exploring with DIA and other agencies what studies, of either community or specific departmental interest, they will be producing based on these documents.
