I was glad to hear that your efforts to develop support and under-
standing for the Agency are being positively received and contributing
to the growing membership of AFIO. We certainly need all the support and
understanding that we can get.
Unfortunately, we have sometimes found that many of our best intentioned
supporters unknowingly stray across classification boundaries. Getting a
handle on this is a rough job, and our lawyers do the best they can.
I can understand how a loyal, well intentioned former employee like.
yourself might find the letter you received a bit offensive. I would
simply ask you to understand that such reminders are sometimes necessary
and not misconstrue the letter to be anything more than that.
I certainly will keep AFIO in mind if I get out your way. As you
might guess, the pace here is rather frenetic and I seem to have little
control over my own schedule.
