NIOs at Large (Heymann and Gordon) and NIO/Latin America met with
to discuss nuclear developments in
A/NIO at Largel ~ met with Deputy Assistant Secretary
of State (Nuclear Energy) James Devine to review recent nuclear
developments in Argentina in conjunction with pending nuclear-related
exports to Argentina.

NIO/East Asia attended meetings at DoD/ISA and ACDA concerning
planning for Secretary Shultz' trip to China. A/NI0/EA attended a China
symposium at the Woodrow Wilson Center.
NIO/Narcotics attended a meeting with Admiral Butts, Director, ONI
and Admiral Dillingham, Chief, Naval Security Agency on sharing
narcotics intelligence.
A/NI0/Warning prepared NIC comments for a study on high resolution
imagery requirements for CY 1984.
NI0/Latin America briefed Ambassador Kirkpatrick on Central America
and Mexico on 28 December.
IV. Future Activities
On 3 January, A/NIO/GPF will host a community meeting to prepare
intelligence support to DoD Congressional presentations on US chemical
weapons moderniztion.
On 4 January, NIO/GPF will meet with Andrew Marshall, Director of
Net Assessments, DoD to discuss joint efforts to assess the impact of
emerging Soviet doctrine on the US Army Airland Battle concept.
On 5 January, at the request of community representatives,
NIO/Africa will host a special warning meeting on the future shape of
Africa over the next 3-5 years.
On 6 January, NIO/Latin America will host a community meeting to
