SUBJECT: Interagency Intelligence Assessment:
GRENADA: THE SECURITY THREAT
1. The Attached Interagency Intelligence Assessment, GRENADA
THE SECURITY THREAT, was prepared under the auspices of the National
Intelligence Officer for Latin America at the request of Assistant
Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs.

DDI/ALA contributed the section on Caribbean Security Forces.
2. The following changes were made after the draft was approved
at the working level on 10 November 1983:
--The first two sentences of the third full paragraph on
Page 4 were recast
--State/INR believes that more Cubans may still be in Grenada
than we have estimated and has taken a footnote to that effect.
--The last sentence in Section II was modified to reflect
recent reports of sniper fire.
--The last paragraph in Section III-B was deleted.
