PREFACE
This Mission Coverage Index (MCI) furnishes a listing of items of intelligence
interest covered by aerial photography from TALENT Mission 3210, dated 3 January
1963. The photographic quality of Mission 3210 was generally good to excellent.
A total malfunction of the third right (far right oblique) position occurred starting
with exposure 343 and continuing to the end of the mission. Photography from
Camera One (tracker camera) was scanned in the area of malfunction; however, no
items of interest or any unusual activity were noted.
Major items of interest on this mission include identification of an airfield at
Ho-tien, China, defense positions along the Sino-Indian Border in the Chushul area
and the Galwan River valley, and a new landing strip in the Chushul area.
Items in this listing are arranged by country and within the country by WAG
area. Items are arranged within a WAC by coordinates reading from south to
north and from west to east. An explanation of column headings and photo refer-
ence data used in presenting the information is contained in the appendix.
For convenience of the user, a subject index to the intelligence targets has
been included following the listing. Targets in the subject index are listed (1) by
category, (2) alphabetically by country within the category, and (3) alphabetically
by place name within each country.
The user of this MCI is cautioned that the scan of photography from Mission 3210
was accomplished in a relatively short time and often without the aid of precise
analytical and mensural equipment commonly employed in detailed photographic
analysis. Consequently, although this information is essentially accurate, future
detailed analysis may somewhat alter portions of the information. It should also
be noted that some of the maps used in the readout of this area are of poor to fair
reliability, resulting in some variations in names and locations.
