Casey Director Central Intelligence Agency Washington, DC 20505 STAT Dear Mr. Casey: I want to report that the first session of "Great American Battles of World War II" went well. Our discussion of Pearl Harbor attracted 43 students divided into retiree? and active duty military officers, young people who want to learn more about the War, and amateur military historians. I have no feel for how many walk-ins your lecture will attract. Unless you object, I will take my introductory material largely from what. Joseph Persico says about you on pages 22-23 of Piercing~.tYie Reich. Also, unless you object, I will have the Smithsonian Associates tape record your lecture. I will have a copy of the tape and the Associates will hold a copy. We do not permit members of the audience to tape our presentations without both my permission and the permission of the speaker. I thought you might enjoy the enclosed article about high-level thinking for the French Resistance going on at the same time as you were worrying about German operations. Please feel free to distribute any bibliographies, fact sheets, or other hand-outs you think should accompany your presentatio:. I look forward to meeting you Thursday evening. Martin K. Gordon Incl. as stated Approved For Release 2007/04113: CIA-RDP83M00914R002800070037-9
