SUBJECT Visit of U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador,
Deane R. Hinton
1. This memorandum is to confirm your appointment at
1200 hours on 7 June with U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador,
Deane R. Hinton. The Ambassador also has an appointment with
the Executive Director at 1100 hours on 7 June and with the ADDO
at 1130 hours on 7 June. Chief, Latin America Division will
host a luncheon for the Ambassador on the same day.
2. Background: Ambassador Hinton became Ambassador to El
Salvador in 1981. Prior to his present position, he served for
four years as United States Representative to the European
Communities-with the rank of Ambassador. From 1974 to 1975 he
was Ambassador to the Republic of Zaire.
3. Attached are additional biographic notes on Ambassador
Hinton, a country fact sheet on El Salvador,
land a list of talking points.
