Drell Stanford University 28 September 1981 Dear Colleague: I would like to invite you to attend two sessions of our continuing Core Seminar on "Security in the Middle East and Gulf Region in the 1980s." These separate sessions deal with Andrew J. Goodpaster General, USA (Ret.) Washington the common theme of the Arab-Israeli conflict, especially those Craufurd D. Goodwin Duke University Philip A. Odeen Coopers & Lybrand Washington Zara S. Steiner New Hall Cambridge University dimensions of the conflict which extend beyond the Palestinian problem which was the subject of our initial session. Due to problems of scheduling and political principle, we were not able to put these sessions together or to announce them earlier. The first will focus on a paper written by Mohamed Sid-Ahmed, Egyptian journalist and author and currently a Guest Scholar at The Wilson Center. This seminar will be on Tuesday, 6 October 1981, from 5:30-10:00 p.m. in the Wilson Center library. As the author of the first Arab call for peace with Israel (After the Guns Fall Silent, 1976), Sid-Ahmed is a firm opponent of the Camp. David treaties and is currently an involuntary political exile from his country.
