This is UNEVALUATED Information report, with sketch, on the location, is described as a purely military factory, producing antiaircraft gun carriages, artillery ammunition and various-spare parts, and employing about 900 individuals. This is a purely military factory producing A.A. 37 anu 85 mm four- wheeled gun carriages and mountings (since November 1955), and 20.3 shell- heads for heavy field artillery. The gun cai-riages with mountings are accounted for and -ieclared as mowers, and shell-heads as pipes. The factory Is situated approximately 2 km north-east of the outskirts of the town. See sketch at Appendix "A". 2. Description of buildings: (See appendix "A") i) Headquarters and offices, marked (a) ii) Shell-knead works, marked (b) iii) Gun carriage and mow3ting parts Department, marked (c) iv) Assembly plant, marked (d) v) Welding Department, marked (e) vi) Spare parts and raw material, stores, marked (f) 3. Approximately 800 labourers 1.nd 100 technicians and employees worked at the factory managed by Ede ORVATH, General Manager, approximately 35, 180 cm. dark, thin. A Russian in civilian clothes wa,s attached to the office and supervised the factory. Instructions arrived at the works written in Russian and were translated by an interpreter. 4. The monthly norm was fixed at:- 80 37 mm YVI gun carriages with mountings 40 85 mm AA gun carriages with mountings which was always fulfilled. The only delay in fulfilment of the norm was caused by the sh tags of raw materials delivered by the DIOSGYOR Ammunition work but on receipt of the materials work was carried out at unpaid overtime so that the norm was not affected, /......5. The maz,uafactured gun carriages and mountings were tested for exactness of dimensions and approximately 8-10 per cent were sent back as defective. The follow~zg defects were found: Side supports of unequal length or badly welded Defects and cracks of welded parts Bearings broken Wheel-springs broken The rejection of defective carriages never affected the norm. 6. The manufactured gun carriages were delivered to DIOSGYOR works, where barrels w id recoil-m.eshaniam were mounted, The guns were then shot in, towed around for about 400 Ian and were returned to the GfdR -works to be handed over to a I!ajgy from the Hungarian War Ministry. 30-40 workers of the PIP K works were attached to the DIC3GYOR factory to learn further procedure with the guns and occasicnal defects shown at further tests were po3..nted out ' them. 7.
