A. Non-Expendable Property Received:
Microfiche Reader, Micron Corporation model 750, Serial number
25549, one each.
B. Items of Engineering Interest:
1. Work on the antenna cable relocation project at Bang Ping
was halted temporarily. We await replacement of the cable stolen
in April. More than half of the cable lines are now relocated overhead
and a new dehydrator was installed for use on the new cables. Some
signal improvement has been noticed on several of the relocated cables,
indicating that the underground cables either are damaged or deteriorating.
2. One Extel AF-11R teleprinter was modified to allow "pinkie
coding" for the new MIDAS format. The modification itself is simple,
consisting of disconnecting one jumper and cutting one printed circuit
conductor on the logic board. Finding a logic board with a character
generator ROM programmed with a blank symbol may be more difficult,
however. Although we found a board that had a ROM programmed with a
blank symbol, it also had other character set variations.
