Although Karat is allegedly becoming increasingly itportant as an agricultural
center, there. are no railroad lines in the immediate vicinity of the city and
no plans for a railway have been. formulated. The nearest lines are the Ruse
Gera Samuil-Kaspichan and the. Gera Samuil-.Isperikh railroads, both of which are
used mainly for freight traffic. The Gera Samuil-isperikh line, which was cool,.

250 families of the village are members; however, the TS owns more land than

cooperative.

flowers, beans, potatoes, sugar beets, cotton, and poppies; in 1951, the TIPES
planted tobacco also. In 1951, each teMber received three kilograms of wheat,
one to five kilogramS of rye, and an unspecified amount of beans and sunflower
seed oil for each work day.
