Richard Pipes had used in his B Team study had been destroyed and that we
would have to go to the original files to find the documents. As a result, I
would need more specific indication of the papers Pipes wants to see. Ford
gave me two suggestions and I also received some ideas from Ted Ralston,
also of the Committee staff, when I later discussed this with ;k).'th.

1. (Unclassified -0 LIAISON Anne Karalekas, Senate Select
Committee on Intelligence staff, called to inquire about the internal
distribution of her report on intelligence and the oil issue. Specifically,
she asked if DDI/ORPA officials were given a copy. After checking with
DDI/CPS/CSO, I informed Karalekas that ORPA
had received a copy.
Committee on Intelligence staff, called to say he would be visiting Headquarters
2. (Unclassified -II LIAISON George Pickett, Senate Select
today and would like to arrange for a new Agency badge. Arrangements
were made through CI Admin., and a badge was made
for him.
3. LIAISON Talked with Hal Ford, Senate 25X1
Select Committee on Intelligence staff, regarding Senator Adlai E. Stevenson2 X1
(D., Ill.) planned trip to South America.
4. (Unclassified LIAISON Ted Ralston, Senate Select
Committee on Intelligence staff, called to say Richard Pipes, chief of one
of the "B Teams ; had reviewed the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
report on the A Team-B Team last week and had asked to see some of the
background material he had used in preparation of the B Team report. Pipes
had hoped to receive the material tomorrow but I advised Ralston this was not
practical because I thought the request would have to be brought to the
DCI`s personal attention. I did agree to attempt to resolve this matter by the
end of this week. Later, Ralston called back to inform me that Hal Ford,
of the Committee staff, had raised this question directly with Dr. Bowie,
D/DCI/NI, and that Dr. Bowie had indicated he had no objection to showing
this material to Pipes as long as the request was restricted to material 25X1
he had used before.
