Approved For Release 2007/05/18: CIA-RDP88-01070R000100170005-2 RADIO TV REPORTS, INC. 4701 WILLARD AVENUE, CHEVY CHASE, MARYLAND 20015 656-4068 FOR PUBLIC AFFAIRS STAFF PROGRAM Jack Anderson S T A T I O N W E A M R a d i o Mutual Network DATE May 3, 1982 9:00 AM CITY Washington, DC SUBJECT Sharing Intelligence JACK ANDERSON: Argentina and Britain both desperately want intelligence on each other but Argentina is at a severe disadvantage. This is Jack Anderson for Mutual Radio. I'll have the Inside Story after this. As Argentina and Britain pace off for the Falkland Islands both sides are desperate for military information. But while the United States shared information for both countries, now we are siding with the British. The ties between Britain's intelligence and our own Central Intelligence Agency go back to the Second World War. The United States had no intelligence agency prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. When Franklin Roosevelt gave the order to start one it was formed with the help of, and it was patterned after the British Secret Service. I've seen a top secret presidential order which allows us to share intelligence with other countries. On the President's list Argentina has been given only confidential material but Great Britain has always been permitted to see intelligence classified top secret. OFFICES IN: WASHINGTON D.C. ?
