Jeane Kirkpatrick asked for our judgment on how close the political situation in El Salvador is to unravelling. To what extent is Garcia's impending departure and the increasing influence of General Suavo's rightists who are urging that the war be fought more aggressively likely to unravel the government and/or change the prospects for defeating the insurgency? 2. We need a close look at this rather quickly from both the political and military standpoint. Get the -perceptions around town as well as those within the building here. e~sg XF~a~yn Approved For Release 2008/01/31: CIA-RDP85M00364RO01502580074-3 SECRET
