SUBJECT: Key Points - HAC 18 May Briefing
1. El Salvador:
a. current situation militarily but more importantly
politically, viz., formation of the Government;
b. have the reforms of the previous government been
undone?;
c. what is our estimate of what will happen there?
2. Honduras:
a. anything briefers want to say (?);
b. some specifics re Miskito Indians and training
camps there;
c. any other insurgents in the region that cause a
problem?;,
d. generally, briefers given carte blanche as to
Honduras?
3. Guatemala:
update re what has happened since the coup with
a sketch of the new leadership.
4. Belize:
a. what has happened there?;
b. have Cuban elements in the Government made any
head way?
5. Cuba:
- weapons transfer into Nicaragua and El Salvador.
