SUBJECT: DDI Activity Report, 10 - 14 May 1982
DCI/DDCI-Assigned Tasks
The Falkland Islands Working Group provided a briefing paper for the DCI's meeting
with PFIAB.
NESA provided the DCI with a memorandum on possible outcomes and implications
of the Iran-Iraq war.
OSWR prepared a presentation in response to the DDCI's request to examine the
monitoring capabilities of selected weapons systems' technical parameters in response to
Senator Glenn's comments.
OSWR provided a background package, including a statement for inclusion in the
open hearing records, for the DDCI's testimony on I I May before the Senate Government
Affairs Subcommittee's investigation of technology transfer.
Of Special Interest This Week
ALA analysts prepared a typescript memo for Judge Clark on the deteriorating
economic situation in Mexico.
ALA briefed HPSCI staffers on the Mexican debt situation.
EURA and ALA briefed Senator Nunn on the Falkland Islands situation.
EURA will brief staff members of the HPSCI on recent developments in Poland.
NESA disseminated three typescripts on Morocco to consumers who will be meeting
with or preparing their principals for a meeting with King Hassan the week of 17 May.
OEAA debriefed on the Vice President's trip to China. A session 25X1
with the Vice President is being considered.

OGI briefed Ambassador Raymond Hunt, Director, Multinational Force and
Observers, on the Egyptian-Israeli border dispute at Taba.
Looking Ahead
OGI will chair the Inter-Agency Working Group on NSSD-9 at the White House on
19 May. The discussions will be held at the Assistant Secretary level in this meeting.
OGI will brief Under Secretary of Agriculture, Seely Lodwick, on the status of the
1982 Soviet grain crop. Lodwick and William Brock, STR, will head the US delegation to
the US-USSR grain consultations in Paris next week.
Briefings
The Directorate was involved in 7 briefings at all levels on the Hill this week.
