Approved For Release 2007/03103: CIA-RDP83M00914R002100160023-1 Central Intelligence Agencv 2 A U G ~g~~ Honorable Gary Hart United States Senate 1748 High Street Denver, Colorado 80218 Dear Senator Hart: Thank you for our letter of 20 Jul 1982 enclosing correspondence you received from equesting information sTAT pertaining to her ate us an s emp oymen with the Central Intelli- gence Agency. has been in touch with us through another sTAT Congressiona sponsor and has been advised that records on file indicate that her husband performed active duty service with the United States Army from 16 January 1951 to 28 January 1953. However, during the period from 17 December 1951 to 28 January 1953, while a .military officer, he was detailed to this Agency. His salary was paid b the U.S. Army. Upon release from active duty on 28 January 1953 ecame a civilian employee with this Agency on sTAT 29 January 1953 and remained as an employee until his resignation on 5 October 1955. Agency records do not contain information relating to career after 5 October 1955 and we are not aware sTAT if e per orme o her Federal civilian service. Under the Civil Service Retirement law, an employee who is separated from the Federal service may apply for a refund of his retirement contributions or, if vested (five years of civilian service), may elect to leave his contributions in the retirement fund for a deferred annuity at age 62.
