Morning Meeting of 2 September 1969
General Cushman chaired the meeting.
General Cushman announced that the Director would arrive
at Headquarters at noon today and that the Director had invited the
DDCI, Executive Director, Bross, and the four Deputy Directors
to lunch at 1230.
General Cushman said that the Operations Center had kept
him promptly and well informed over the weekend on coup develop-
ments in Brazil and Libya.
Lehman for Godfrey commented briefly on the weekend coups
in Brazil and Libya and on reactions to the highjacking of a TWA
airliner by Arab guerrillas.

Abbot Smith reported that the tour of the duty officer in the
Director's office over the weekend was quiet.
Abbot Smith reported that ONE had, at the request of the
White House, prepared a paper on the outlook for foreign oil imports
into the US fifteen years from now.
Carver reported that Vietnam was quiet and commented briefly
on the new cabinet in South Vietnam.
or Maury reported that a member of the staff of Congress-
man o ino had called last Friday to inquire whether CIA had given
a background briefing to the press on the Green Beret case.

Duckett reported that a U-2 mission had been successfully
flown in the Far East over the weekend,
General Cushman reported on last Friday's meeting of the
NSC Verification Committee at San Clemente. He reported that
Kissinger had asked many questions but made no effort to suppress
footnotes prior to the submission of the Committee's report to the
President.
Karamessines reported that he had called Army Secretary
Beal last Friday in response to his offer to furnish the Agency with
transcripts and documents connected with the Green Beret case.
Mr. Beal said that no documents would be available pending the
return of Secretary Resor to Washington. Mr. Beal raised the
possibility of permitting Agency representatives to examine certain
documents in the Pentagon.
Karamessines reported that he had participated in four meet-
ings of the Washington Special Action Group over the weekend. He
said that the Group will probably meet in San Clemente on 4 September.
