1. With respect to the section of the Survey which recommends the
exploration of all feasible means of increasing- programs, dis- 25X1A6a

increase in operations can be undertaken in the near future.

have been increased recently and further expansion is in progress.

4+. Although much thought has been given to expanding
25X1 A6a to cover the effective coverage of these additional targets is
not possible under the present budget or under budget ceilings projected
for FY 1959. Inflationary pressures both here and abroad raise the cost
of radio operations approximately 3% each year,, and increasingly firm
limits on funds available not only preclude expansion but threaten cur-
tailment of existing operations.
