1. A (Iorr:>an engineer: named 1.aeller (fnu), formerly of the Zeiss 1.1Jerke, Jena, was
effored a seven-year work con1:..'act by the Soviets when the Zeiss plant was dis-
mantled and transported to Kiev. He accepted the contract and moved to the USSR
o,ith his fa;ru.'y.
2, Upon the completion of his contract, Mueller asked the Soviets for permission to
return to Germany with his family, The Soviet reaction to this request was to
imprison Mueller, charging him with having carried out espionage under cover of
a correspondence with his brother in West Germany. During the period from mid-
April to 26 July 1952, Mueller was in the Rosa Luxemburg Filson in Kiev.
