1. The reor, anization of Volkspolizei Dienststelle (VPD) 2915 in Halle began on
10 Jnua:?y 1952. The p revi ously existing 2nd., 3r c and 6th Sonderabteilungen were
intef,rat,?d into infantry Korrrandos. The following organizational structure
resulted: lst through 3rd Abteilungen were rifle units, with each having 45
carbines 19 submachine guns and 18 light machine guns; 4th A :teUung was a
heavy riaehine gun unit with 3 model 03/15 heavy machine guns and 1 model
Maxir:?: heavy nachine gun; 5th Abteil_ung was a mortar unit with 3 medium mortars
of German and Soviet origin; 1 communication Zu : j finer Zug; and 1 heavy

or divis'ons by increasing their authorized strengths,,. The existing Koan ando
