1. The building of a textile factory vas begun at Calea Nationala, Botosani,
in 1950, not far from the MunicipalPower Station. The building was completed
in June 1951.
2. The factory consisted of a number of small and large halls connected with
each other. They had sloping brick roofs with window openings. A special
building was constructed for steam boilers. Pipes carried the steam from
this building to all parts of the factory.

Machinery was installed in each hall as it was completed, and on 23 August
1950, the factory began to work. An unknown number of machines had been
imported from the USSR, and some hundreds of looms from Italy. Italian
mechanics had remained at Botosani for some time to install these machines.
4. During construction of the factory a scaffolding collapsed and a boiler
exploded. a Sovromconstructia engineer who came to
the building from time to time had suffered an accident, but did not know
what had happened.
5. Shortly before June 1951, the building of a chemical factory was begun behind
the textile factory above.
6. One of the engineors was named Lebada, He was 26 or 27, tall and dark and
generally liked.
