THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1e The Central Supply and Service Command of the ?,evolutionary Military Council
received orders that beginning in February 1952 the quality of staple and sub-
sidiary foods for officers and men in front-line areas should be improved,
Troops stationed in China were considered defensive, so the improvement was to
apply only to the Volunteers' Army troops in Korea.
Rations were as follows:
a. Hsiao tsao ('J which applied to cadres of division grade or higher:
A staple ration of 28' Lael.s per man per day, consistin - entirely of fine
grains, and a su sidiary food allowance of J21:1' 6L 9000 per man per month.
Chung tsao which e3plied to cadres of battalion and regimental
grades: A staple ration of 28 taels per man. per day, consisting of 50 per-
cent fine grains and ?() percer_ . coarse grains, and a subsidiary food
allowance of J 32,000 per man per monthe
e0 Ta tsao whi~ch l-~ _L(:3+. to units of comp I1~r tirade or below: A
staple ration of 28 taelr per man per day, consisting of 30 percent fine
grains and 70 percent coarse grains, and a subsidiary food allowance of
JMP 16,000 per man per montho
Subsidiary foods in kind were also supp)lied to combat forces.
