Prowehren (20?214tE/5L?1i6'N) airfield was occupied by conventional piston fighters during the period from March to June 1948, During early June 1948.. an estimated 200 #et aircraft] were stationed at the field. IF. 25X1 The jet planes were parked on both sides of the asphalt taxiway which was 10 to 12 meters wide and 700 to 800 meters long, and north of the runway immediately south of the railroad line to Rauschen (20?10'E/5!4?57'N). Tho airfield personnel were uartered in !~ or 5 three-story dwelling buildings along the Koenigsberg (20?30tt,/51;?b2+N) - Rauschen highway, your or five low wooden buildings were observed behind these dwelling houses. An estate opposite these houses, north of the railroad line in the northeastern corner of the field, also quartered air force personnel. 2. Up to May 1951, the flying personnel stationed at the field were quartered in a long two-story building located on the Koenigsberg-Rauschen highway, About 80 jet planes and 40 to 50 biplanes were stationed at the field. The aircraft were parked in the open. Comments: The information on the presence of conventional piston fighters at owehren during the period stated confirms previous information. The num- ber of 200 jet planes reportedly stationed at the field appears to be exaggerated. For sketch of the field, see annex,. QOomment.
