On 5 January LIU Shan-pen, chief of staff of the Chinese Communist Air Force,
together with four staff members and two Soviet advisers, arrived at Nanning
aboard a 0-46 from the Wuhan area. On 6 January LIU wade a general inspection
LIII and his party left IIanning by air for Kunming. During December 1951 at a
meeting of high-ranking air force officers in Peiping LIU suggested the ex-
pansion of the Chinese Coxnist Air Force in South China during the spring of
1952; the inspection trip wasi:iade in this connection.
