1. The capacity of the main furnace of the foundry of the Jesenice Steel Mill
is six wagonsl.of steel r~ delivered every eight hours. The melted steel,
whose temperature is 1,600 to 1,800 degrees, is then cast into molds with
the aid of large cranes. Six skilled workers were, until recently, emp:Loyed
on each blast furnace. Now, however, only four men are used as a result
of new working regulations and "challenges".
2. Eighteen machines are in operation in the nail factory of the steel mill;
each machine produces 150 to 200 nails per minute. An additional 16
skilled workers are needed in the wire factory, and their lack slows the
factory's output. Nevertheless, the plan is always at least "fulfilled"
or more than "fulfilled".
