GAO, international Division, called with two questions:
(a) Ile asked about the status of the report on terrorism
in Italy and. the capabilities of the Italians to deal
with the threat. I have since located the report in PCS/LOC
and have prepared. a transmittal letter from Frederick 11. Ilitz,
/legislative Counsel, to Louis Hunter, GAO, International
V Division, attention Mr. Zanardi. (h) Ile asked whether it
would. be possible for us to prepare a. short report on. our
evaluation of the JCR (a Latin American umbrella organization
which theoretically directs the activities of terrorist
organizations in that region). The special focus of this
report should cover the Agency's evaluation of the JCR's
ahi:t-ity to po'1 ,Q a serious terrorist threat in. Latin America.
