SHIPYARD : GORKIY, SHIPYARD 112
LOCATION . GORKIY, USSR
GEO COORDS: 56-22N o43-53E
1. Possible hydrofoil (LOA approx 100') resting on a large rectangular
floating platform.
Identification is based on the hull outline and overall appearance in-
cluding a possible wheelhouse on the bow.
2. Probable BUREVESTNIK type hydrofoil (LOA approx 140') resting on a large
rectangular floating platform.
Identification is based on the vertical fin mounted slightly forward of
the pointed stern, anobservation dome just forward of amidship, and the
overall length.
3. Transporter dock (visible LOA approx 4l0').
The stern end-point of the dock could not be positively identified, and
the stern could extend as much as 40' further aft.
4. Two transporter docks (LOA of easternmost dock approx 460', LOA of west-
ernmost dock approx 435').
5. SOVETSKI AZERBAIJAN type Train Ferry (LOA approx 440').
6. Probable SORMOVICH type hovercraft (LOA approx 90') resting on a float.
This hovercraft appears identical to the SORMOVICH hovercraft except for
a small raised object just forward of amidship. Two probable pusher
fans aft and flare on bow are easily discerned.
7. Approximately 10-15 unidentified circular objects resting on their
transverse axes. Outside diameters of these objects range from approxi-
mately 20 to 30 feet. When viewed in stereo these objects appear to
have very little height.
8. Probable barge (LOA approx 270').
The function of this craft could not be determined.

9. ZEYA Class YRSN (LOA approx 235').
The unique small superstructure forward, long depressed area amidship,
raised area aft and overall length all equate to recognition character-
istics associated with the ZEYA Class YRSN.
10. Possible YR/APL (LOA approx 320').
This vessel has a stepped-down bow, stepped-down stern, and a unique
rectangular superstructure, approximately 70 feet long and 25 feet wide,
positioned just forward of amidship.
11. Possible YR/APL (LOA approx 315').
The "box-like" appearance of this craft indicates that it is possibly a
barracks ship or floating workshop. A stepped-down bow is also visible.
12. Unidentified vessel (LOA approx 395').
This craft has a stepped-down bow and stern.
13. Possible "J" Class SSG (visible length 255').
The above measurement of 255' includes only the visible portion of the
submarine as the end-points of this submarine are obscured by shadow.
Imagery equating to a set of possible missile tubes forward, exhaust
deflectors aft, and the relatively broad beam and flat appearance of the
deck contributed to this evaluation. Shadow from -a vertical screen, posi-
tioned inboard of the submarine, obscures most of the sail area from
view. Floating vertical screens were also noted outboard of the sub-
marine, apparently used to obscure the submarine from view from the river.
14. Probable barge (LOA approx 250').
15. Unidentified circular object (diameter approx 25') resting on its trans-
verse axis.
This object appears to be roughly 10 feet high.
16. Four probable vertical screens on quay.
17. Unidentified SS (visible waterline length approx 185').
The length of this submarine equates to the "Q" Class SS; however, this
submarine is fitted with a very large possible sonar installation on the
bow, and the sail appears to be approximately 10 feet longer and has a
pronounced step in the forward edge.

18. Transporter dock on transverser.
Dock side walls have an angled cut-down appearance on aftermost 60
feet ,of dock. A dock approximating this size with cut-down side walls
aft has been observed at Shipyard 402, Severodvinsk, USSR (64-35N
039-50E). See annotation 12, CIA/PIR-67314.
This dock was measured by the NPIC/Technical Intelligence Division with
the following results:
? 5 feet or 3% whichever is greater.
19. Transporter dock under construction (LOA of completed portion approx
430').
20. Unidentified vessel in an early stage of construction (visible LOA
approx 330').
KEY TO FACILITY ANNOTATIONS
A. Probable two-bay, shop-type building under construction. Overall dimen-
sions approx 480 feet by 155 feet. The roof appears to be approximately
four-fifths complete.
See annotation A,
B. Construction is continuing on this large new building (overall dimen-
sions approx 1,330 feet by 430 feet).
A small section of roof sheathing is in place at the eastern end of
the building. Although this building is still in an early stage of
construction, its size, structural appearance, and close proximity to
the transverser all indicate that it will probably be a construction
hall. In order for this building to be served by the transverser, the
transverser will have to be extended approximately 700 feet to the south.
There is no evidence that the transverser is being extended at this
time.
See annotation B,
C. Construction is continuing on the third bay of this new construction hall.
(Approximate overall dimensions 515 feet by 405 feet).
The third bay appears to be the same as the other two, the roof appears
to be approximate) three-f rths complete.
