Acting Director of Security SUBJECT: Office of Security Significant Activities Week of 7 August 1980 (U) REFERENCE: DDA Administrative Instruction No. 74-5 1. This memorandum is for. information only. (U) 2. The activities of the Office of Security during the week of 7 - 13 August 1980 were highlighted by the following items: a. Representatives of the Office participated in an Armor Working Group test program of various rotective devices at A videotape of the tests, which will be viewed at the DDA Staff Meeting on 14 August, graphically portrays the effectiveness of the devices tested. (U) b. On 8 August, a two-man team (Overseas Security Support Branch and Technical Security Division representatives) returned from a trip where physical security surveys and audio measures inspections were conducted I I c. On 12 August, the Chief, Information Systems Security Group, briefed the APEX Staff on the compart- mented computer processing problem in industry to include the impact of technology on this type of processing and the various security vulnerabilities that are being encountered. On 12 August, the Technical Security Division (TSD) hosted a briefing on TSD operations and an up- date on the worldwide Hostile Audio Threat to 14 Regional Security Officers and Security Engineering Officers attending a Department of State in-service training course. A member of the Overseas Security Support Branch also participated in this briefing _ by discussing Physical Security Division operations worldwide. (C) e. At the request of the Office of Data Processing Safety Officer, a member of the Safety Group conducted a sound level survey within the 1D-10 area of Head- quarters. Results indicated sound levels to be well within established OSHA standards. No corrective action was recommended. (U) f. Members of the Office conducted a survey of access controls currently in effect at the Ames Building and the impact of current ongoing construction on these controls. As a result of the survey, temporary modifications were made in the access controls during the construction phase. Permanent changes in the access controls will be implemented upon completion of the construction.
